This module is designed as an introduction to the world of fashion business archives. After an initial definition, the characteristics, materials and needs will be explored in depth, highlighting, through references to specific cases, what steps are necessary to constitute or reorganize them.
SPECIFICITY AND NEEDS OF THE SECTOR
with Giorgetta Bonfiglio Dosio, Professor of Archival Science at the University of Padua
A day dedicated to analysing the fashion industry, with a specific focus on its unique needs and characteristics. Starting from theoretical and historical bases, practical examples and research cases will be used to further explore the requirements, limitations, and potential.
THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A FASHION ARCHIVE
with Francina Chiara, Curator of the Archive and Museum Fondazione Ratti and Professor of History of Fashion and Costume
What can be found in fashion archives? What are the objects, products and documents that the different typologies have in common? What standards are in use? We will try to answer these questions, providing orientation on the materials and their conservation and treatment needs.
VISIT AT A.N.G.E.L.O VINTAGE, Lugo di Romagna, (RA)
A.N.G.E.L.O. Vintage is an Italian excellence and an international reference point, both physical and virtual, for the Vintage sector.
It is a reality imagined and created by Angelo Caroli who has been working in this sector for more than forty years.
When Caroli took its first pioneering steps in this nascent sector, the term Vintage was not yet common, it was used. The beginning of his adventure starts from “used American”.
Through this visit immersed between vintage and archive items, we will understand how the search for the items takes place, Their marketing and musealisation and how they inspire the creative process of designers and costume designers.
Logistics are at the expense of the student.
