OUR ONLINE AND PHYSICAL
FASHION ARCHIVE

Fondazione Fashion Research Italy believes in the value of corporate culture and the creative excellence of Made in Italy, topics on which it has always raised awareness among the manufacturers of the fashion system.

Its beating heart is an online and physical fashion archive that houses a collection of textile designs of extraordinary value, catalogued and digitized to be a source of inspiration in the planning of new fashion and design collections. It is completed by the Emmanuel Schvili fund, a donation from the shirt and leisurewear brand of the same name, and the Fashion Photography Archive project, custodian of the visual memory of the Fashion Valley.

RENZO BRANDONE FUND

It represents an unicum in Italy: 30,000 textile designs handmade on paper and fabric by the best international textile designers between the 19th and 21st centuries available to professionals as a source of research and precious inspiration.

A repertoire of surprising patterns and graphic variations, representative of different styles and eras, which tell the entire production chain of important companies and constitutes an integral part of our courses on fashion archives.

Emmanuel Schvili
fund

It is the result of the donation of embroidery sketches, collection mood boards, finished garments and communication material from the company of Bologna known for its refined workmanship and shirt-making. A vivid example of valorisation of the brand heritage, through which it is possible to reconstruct the history of cartoon-themed embroidery that made it famous in the 90s.

Fashion Photography Archive

A non-profit project, the result of the virtuous triangulation with the University of Bologna and some of the most well-known companies based in Emilia-Romagna, with the aim of collecting and cataloguing their most iconic and recognizable legacy.

An online fashion archive that collects thousands of advertising campaigns, catalogues and look books which, catalogued and related to each other, contribute to the narration of the history of the brands, enhancing the visual memory of Emilia Romagna Fashion and consolidating its prestige and recognizability.

Library

More than 5000 volumes make up our library: a heterogeneous thematic repertoire that ranges from fashion to design, through architecture and advertising, illustration, folk and of course textile design. An important section is dedicated to this last theme, to accompany creatives and scholars in their research, as a surprising source for sector studies.
