Fashion Research Italy Foundation has its roots in the business culture of which the founder was a protagonist in his region and in the world. For this reason, it has chosen to place its activities in the reconverted spaces of what, until the 2000s, was the headquarters of La Perla, among the icons of Made in Italy of which Cav. Alberto Masotti was patron for almost five decades.
An important example of industrial and urban regeneration in the heart of the Fashion Valley of Emilia Romagna.

Conservative redevelopment
Conservative redevelopment
The architectural complex that houses the FRI Foundation is in the Roveri area on the outskirts of Bologna, which in the 1980s was designated by the municipal town plan for artisanal and industrial development.
It bears the signature of Studio Cervellati e Associati who, for its first design, as a production plant of La Perla, drew on the surrounding area, recalling its typical features. A large entrance vault complete with clock evokes the ancient rhythms of factory work and the last of the three buildings follows the structure of the country barn, introduced by Carlo Francesco Dotti, an architect from Bologna known above all for the sanctuary of the Madonna of San Luca .
In 2016, the same designer will take care of its conservative recovery to make it home to the newly created foundation, thus returning the redevelopment of the entire area to the city and its economy.
Technology and sustainability
The 7000 sq.m of Via del Fonditore 12 are built with modern technologies aimed at limiting environmental impact. Starting from the cladding of the buildings in Krion Solid Surface, a completely recyclable ceramic material which underlines the link with one of the major productions in Emilia-Romagna, and from the home automation LED lighting system with which all the buildings are equipped.
A virtuous circle of resource reuse also makes it possible to satisfy the energy needs of the headquarters, partly guaranteed by a photovoltaic system on the roof. The air exchange takes place by means of a modern ventilation system with thermal energy recovery, with which domestic hot water is produced. Finally, a rainwater tank allows the irrigation of the green areas.
