Based on the history of the Rossimoda shoe factory and its partnerships with leading fashion labels, this program describes the experience of the Villa Foscarini Rossi Footwear Museum.The Museum’s origins, its strategic and operational decisions, and future prospects will be analyzed. Additionally, the Product Archive, its development, and its opportunities for the business and the community will be discussed.

This class introduces the conservation and display of historical and contemporary clothing, focusing on mannequins, or the restoration of volume using mannequins and custom-made supports.The methods and design choices used to return the clothing to its original form while meeting conservation standards will be demonstrated through case studies.Under the direction of a textile restorer, the silhouette reconstruction is presented as a technical and curatorial process that combines historical, artistic, and sartorial expertise.

The Care of a “Textile” Work from Preventive Conservation to Display

Textile restorer and conservation expert
This class explores the study of textile materials: from fiber characterization to degradation processes and conservation methods, considering interactions with materials and the environment. The qualities of a good archive/storage facility and archiving methods for natural and composite textiles in two and three dimensions are examined. Through case studies and theoretical and practical exercises, display techniques with the appropriate supports and structures are also examined.

Dedicated to the designer, painter, and entrepreneur Mariano Fortuny (1871-1949), it takes place in the historic Palazzo Pesaro in Venice and contains several archives (photographic, textile and design, set and theatre and fashion) that preserve some of the historic garments created by the Fortunys, including one of their most famous designs: the famous Delphos.
